tldr:holy shit i have a library to look after

i have to wake up at 7 am in the morning and this royally sucks except for the Why.

i have a library it is so cursed yall

i am the proud librarian of a spinners and weavers' guild's library, because of a. nepotism (mother is the president) and b. if i didn't volunteer to take care of it, it was going to be shut down and sold off. thanks to the guild having to move out of their former space (which i'm told had a whole actual room dedicated to the library), and the salvos are only renting a room to them on the club meeting days, i'm currently operating out of a shipping container, with two rickety old cabinets as the library's refuge against the damp.

it's awful and i love it.

i've started on redoing+completing their catalogue and so far i've recieved good responses from the guild committee- the last catalogue was not finished, and the last librarian was not very comfortable with technology, so it suffered some Slowness in its development- and that was before covid kicked in. but i frankly don't mind starting from scratch- it's letting me take a good look over each book, and take note of those in need of repairs and preventative protection. it'll be a lot of work to tackle, but... god i'm glad for it.

inaugural notes, as an afterthought

this is very much a first-test blog post, to see how my template holds up, so i'll likely add another in the next day or two. i'd like to get into the blogging habit, and i'm going to tinker with the layout, and delivery method (dreamwidth does still await, if i want to branch out there too...) but hey. first steps.
