the web beyond
- Project Gutenberg - Look. Look it's a classic. An incredible free, public domain library. Make use of it!
- Archive of Our Own - Ao3 is borderline a necessity if you're involved in fandom spaces, particularly text-based forms of fandom. Still in beta, so making a new account requires requesting an invite, but the wait is not long at all, and well worth it. If you only make use of the place for reading and bookmarking fics, that's great- but if you have fanfic you want to share and don't want it subject to the whims of social media, it's a fantastic archive to participate in.
- Marginalia Search - Escape the google algorithm! This search engine prioritises weird old-web sites (and old-web style sites!). Just try making a couple of searches to feel out how it works, and go forth to explore the nooks and crannies of the online universe.
